Currently there are about one million small businesses that involved in international trade and this number is expected to double in the next decade. That alone shows the great potential and need for International Calling Service. The last decade has seen substantial growth in the small and mid-sized business sector of the U.S. economy, and technology has been a major contributor to this trend. The growing digital infrastructure has reduced the costs of starting and running a small business, lowered competitive barriers, opened new markets and industries to small businesses.
In 2006 alone, there were more than 245 thousand exporters and more than 754,000 importers in the US, and a big majority of them are small to medium-size companies (97%). The economic impact is impressive. The growth of exports in 2006 has been three times faster than the overall economy. Yet there is remarkable room for business expansion as businesses connect with other foreign markets. Currently only 33% of US small businesses participate in international trade per a recent study by UPS (shipping carrier), and IFTF (Institute for the Future) estimates that nearly half of US small businesses will be involved in global trade in the next decade.
